Sangha Saturdays

Sangha Saturdays was created by SF based Yoga Teacher Robin Duryea in November of 2014. It was inspired by a trip to Nicaragua where she taught Yoga to the local community. She was moved by how open they were to the practice and how warm they were as a people living in what is considered one of the poorest countries in Central America.

Upon returning home she wanted to create an atmosphere that fostered the integration of the practice within the SF based community.

Sangha Saturdays is an evening in which we use conversation as means of deeping our relationships to each other and the pracice. In addition to a 60 minute inspired Yoga practice we'll be holding space for discourse and dialog around the theme, MANTRA.

MANTRA, also known as chanting, is a powerful part of the practice not offered in many modern public classes. However, in Robin's experience, mantra is just as powerful as the physical practice, if not more so. It not only affects the body it also facilitates a re-wiring of the brain. It aids in the release of habits and additicions that don't serve us and in the release of negative thinking and distraction that clouds most of our minds.

Robin will break down the science, the myth, and the meanings of a few chosen mantras she offers in her public classes.

In addition we have specail guest SF teacher Lauren Pisano joining us, sharing her musicality and experience with mantra. Toghether we'll both be playing our harmoiums to add depth and insight to the powerful effects of sound through mantra.

**Proceeds from this event will go to KPOO, 89.5. The local community supported radio station that supports the people, arts, and healing**
